Come all you Texas Rangers wherever you may be br>
I'll tell you of some troubles that happened unto me br>
My name is nothing extra so that I will not tell br>
And here's to all you Rangers I'm sure I wish you well br>
Was at the age of twenty I joined the ranger band br>
We marched from San Antonio down to the Ryo Grande br>
Our Captain he informed us perhaps he thought it right br>
Before you reach the station boys you'll surely have to fight br>
And when the bugle sounded our Captain gave command br>
To arms to arms he shouted and by your horses stand br>
I saw the smoke ascending and it seemed to reach the sky br>
The first thought it struck me br>
My time had come to die br>
I saw the Indians coming I heard them give a yell br>
My feelings at that moment no tongue can ever tell br>
I saw their glittering lances their arrows 'round me flew br>
And all my strength had left me and all my courage too br>
We fought them for nine hours before the strife was over br>
The likes of dead and wounded I never saw before br>
And as the sun had risen and the Indians they had fled br>
We loaded up our rifles and counted up our dead br>
And all of us were wounded our noble Captain slain br>
The sun was shining sadly all on that flooded plain br>
Sixteen has the brave Rangers that ever roamed the west br>
Were buried by their comrades with arrows in their breast br>
I see the fruits of ramlen br>
I know his hardships well br>
I've been in the rocky mountains br>
Rode down the streets of hell br>
I've been in the great south west poise br>
Where the wild apache roam br>
And I can tell you from experience you'll better off at home br>
And now my song is ended I sure I've sung enough br>
The life of a Ranger boys you see is very tough br>
And here's to all you ladies I'm sure I wish you well br>
I'm bound to go all raging so ladies fair you well br>
